News From The Old Time Preachers Quartet

Bob Sellers Joins Old Time Preachers Quartet

Nashville, TN (August 28, 2018) Effective January 1, 2019 in addition to his solo minsitry, Bob Sellers will also assume the lead singer spot for the Old Time Preachers Quartet.  So, how did this come to be?

Les Butler, Old Time Preachers QT states, “our original lead singer, Lee McNeill told me early in the year that he would give me the entire year to find another lead singer.  He took a pastorate in Mechanicsville, VA in 2017 and it was impossible to do both.  I tried for months to find a singing preacher.  I quickly found out why there’s never been a full-time quartet of preachers traveling the country; there aren’t any!  So, Mike Holcomb and I discussed it and felt if the Lord brought us the right person, it would be okay if he wasn’t a preacher.  As long as there is an Old Time Preachers QT, founding members Mike Holcomb and myself will anchor down the preaching spot.”

Butler continues, “My wife and I were driving home from Pigeon Forge, TN when I told her if Bob Sellers ever leaves the Kingsmen, I would love to talk to him about joining us.”  Literally, the very next morning I read his facebook post announcing that he was leaving the Kingsmen.  I just stared at my computer in disbelief.  I sent him a text immediately.  He called me the next day.  After several weeks of prayer on both sides, we agreed to join forces.”

Holcomb states, “everyone in the Old Time Preachers QT have our own personal ministries.  Les, Tim, Adam and I preach and sing individually somewhere across America about every night." Adam Borden states, "the QT only does 60-70 dates each year.  This was a perfect situation for Bob to grow his solo ministry while scratching the quartet itch.”

Tim Owens states, “Bob is a great singer with an amazing range.  Lee had a sickness in the family and couldn’t join us in Morristown, TN in June.  Les called him about midnight as we traveled from North Carolina to Morristown.  Bob picked up the phone and said he’d be glad to help.  He showed up in Morristown, we quickly ran through a couple of songs and we hit it off right out of the gate.  We sang for 3 services like we’d been singing together for years.  He’s a keeper.”

Sellers says, “My goal when leaving The Kingsmen in June 2018 was to spend more time at home yet continue singing and ministering to people wherever God would open doors. In addition to honoring a steady solo schedule, in recent months I’ve had the privilege of filling in several times with The Old Time Preachers Quartet, and I’m extremely excited to now be joining their ranks on a more permanent basis! Having gotten to know better the men who make up this quartet - Les Butler, Mike Holcomb, Tim Owens and Adam Borden - I believe they are some of the finest, Christian men in Gospel music, and their talent is second to none. The Old Time Preachers Quartet’s touring schedule of roughly 60-70 dates a year allows me to fulfill my desire to spend more time with my family, while remaining focused on my solo singing ministry and also allowing me to sing quartet music, which I have so enjoyed for the past many years.”

The quartet will be blessed to have Bob with us for one tour this year, before his official start in Jan 2019.  He will be with them this Friday morning at the Bluegate Theater Breakfast Club event in Shipshewana, Saturday night at the Dundee Assembly of God, Dundee, MI and the Papaw’s Gospel Sing at Fellowship Baptist Church in Muncie, IN.

Old Time Preachers Quartet Announcement

Nashville, TN (July 24, 2018) The Old Time Preachers Quartet have announced that Lee McNeill has resigned as lead singer of the group but will remain with them throughout 2018 as they search for a new member.

“Lee took a great church in Mechanicsville, VA last year. As it should, this is taking all of his time and effort. Early this year Lee told me he'd give the quartet until the end of the year to find another lead singer. He simply couldn't do it all. Adam Borden has been singing the majority of the dates that Lee couldn't make this year. And, by the way, Adam has been knocking it out of the park and will continue to travel with us on the weekends.  We are currently praying and looking for the right man to join the group. This is a challenging position to fill. All of the members maintain their own personal preaching and singing schedules, plus, Tim and I also have businesses. We appreciate your prayers as we seek God’s will for our group. Oh, and allow me to add this, being given a 12 month notice is unheard of. This speaks to Lee's character. We can't thank him enough for giving us such a long notice! We wish he could stay until the horn blows, but we totally get it. We will miss his talent. We will miss his spirit. And I "think" we'll miss his stunts! LEE MCNEILL IS CRAZY,” stated Les Butler.

Lee McNeil said, “I’m gonna miss singing with these guys. Some of the greatest men you’ll ever meet are a part of the Old Time Preachers Quartet. Love you guys.”

The Old Time Preachers Quartet have quickly emerged as one of Gospel’s top quartets, claiming multiple Singing New Top 20 hits and appearing at major events such as Dollywood, National Quartet Convention, Bluegate Theater and others.

Old Time Preachers: "When I Wake Up" - #1 Singing News Pick Hit For August

Nashville, TN (July 10, 2018) Over the last few years, the Old Time Preachers Quartet burst onto the scene and have solidified themselves as one of the most popular quartets in the country. Their first three radio singles all climbed into the Singing News Top 40 including "I'll Ride This Ship To The Shore," which climbed up to #6. Their latest song, “When I Wake Up” debuted on the Singing News Pick Hit chart as the #1 Pick Hit and #7 on the Top New Release chart for August. They have won, and been nominated for, numerous awards and have sung on Southern Gospel’s biggest stages including the Bluegate Theater, Dollywood and the National Quartet Convention. While all of this success has been exciting for the group, their mission has never been focused on these things but rather to see lives genuinely changed by the power of the Gospel. Their music is doing just that.

The Old Time Preachers Quartet know that the Lord is blessing them in a special way. “When we started this group we never dreamed that we’d have multiple hit songs and a full schedule.  We just wanted to sing and preach revivals, letting people know that the old time religion is still the answer for today’s problems. We are so thankful to the Lord for using four old-time preachers,” stated Mike Holcomb. They recently sang in 8 services in 5 days at Teay's Valley Baptist Church to huge crowds. "We knew this is why God put this group together and that He had something different in store. We are finalizing plans for 3 day, 4 service revivals where we will each preach one night and sing at every service.  We are looking forward to being at places like Pathway Baptist Church in  Scottsboro, AL and Lighthouse Baptist Church in Temple, where we get to do what God called this group to do; sing and preach," added Les Butler.
